2013 UPDATE
The first completed painting of 2013 underlines further developments in my work. Contrasting gradual and sudden transitions of colour and application through fragmented colour modulations

Recent depictions of the Scottish Highlands and Islands have become increasingly involved in the tactile viscous properties of oil paint and the painting surface itself. My colour approach explores both subtle and bold modulations of hue as the paint is layered in generous and juicy blocks and softened with diaphanous glazes.
